MEET CHRIS FORD |
Chris’ journey to Lexington began in 1994, as a football player at the University of Kentucky. 16 years later, he proudly calls Lexington home. Here with us, he leads his family, guides his career, and pursues community service interests. Chris hopes to better our future, all as Fayette County citizens. Leadership and work ethic was instilled in Chris at an early age. Raised by his maternal grandmother (and supporting family) in Tallahassee, Florida, Chris excelled in both academics and athletics. In high school, Chris starred as the quarterback on the Football team, captain of the state champion Track & Field team, and as President of the Student Government Association. Chris received an athletic scholarship to UK, where he earned three (3) varsity letters from 1994 – 97. He became the first male in his family to graduate from college, leaving UK with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism – General Editorial. He later attained a Master of Public Administration degree from Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, KY. Over the next 10 years, Chris’ professional career has spanned the local, regional and state levels of government. Currently, Chris works as the President and Chief Executive Officer of REACH, Inc., a non – profit affordable housing development agency in Lexington. Chris has always placed a focus on faith, family and community service. He has coached youth sports, served as a church trustee, as a housing and community advisory board member. He firmly believes in the character values developed by athletics: fair competition, hard work / preparation, and sportsmanship. Chris’ professional and volunteer efforts in Lexington have contributed greatly to his leadership and problem solving skills, as well as heightened his desire to greater public service. His loving wife, the former Talesha Lindsay of Lexington, and their three (3) sons supports him. |
